Randi's stuffed french toast
1 loaf egg bread/texas toast
8 oz package cream cheese
8 eggs
1 1/2 C half and half
1/2 C butter, melted
1 C brown sugar
2 T corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1 T orange juice
syrup
directions:
cube bread and lay half of it in a 9x13 pan. cut cream cheese into cubes and lay on top of bread. Layer the remaining bread. Beat the eggs, half and half, butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, and orange juice. Pour over the top and press. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake 350 degrees for 40-50 min.
Serve with buttermilk syrup:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 T Karo syrup
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
directions: combine first 4 ingredients in sauce pan. Add soda. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Serve warm.
